Why Brandfolder? (As told by our customer, Aceable)
As one of the leaders in online education, Aceable knows that effective coursework means more than just well-written lesson plans. To ensure that students are engaging with and retaining information relevant to their needs, Aceable works hard to provide a mix of photo and video content that reinforces key learnings with a little dash of humor. As a result, Aceable’s collection of digital assets has grown exponentially over the past few years, a problem the company turned to Brandfolder to help them solve.
For its first few courses, Aceable’s content team was able to manage its course images through the shared use of a third-party image tagging application. However, as the company grew — in particular, AceableAgent, a second vertical focused on real estate pre-licensing and continuing education — it became obvious that a digital asset management (DAM) system was no longer a luxury. Aceable needed a powerful tool if it were to continue its upward trajectory.

Zhu took it upon herself to research several DAM solutions towards the end of 2017; she worked with different departments within Aceable to ensure they were picking the right service for both current and future business needs. This meant countless meetings with members of the marketing and customer service team to understand their complex — and ever-shifting — digital resource needs.
After months of research and review, Zhu had her recommendation. “Brandfolder stood out to me because it didn’t follow the traditional folder/subfolder structure of a DAM system,” Zhu explains. Those familiar with Brandfolder know that assets are organized according to an intuitive tagging system; this system requires users to take a step back and challenge their assumptions of how assets can (and should) be organized, often leading to huge improvements in cross-departmental collaboration. Zhu describes the Brandfolder structure as allowing for “a more visual representation of the assets, separated by sections and tags,” allowing users with zero experience in image management to easily manipulate and download images for their specific needs.
Throw in additional features such as merged files and AI tagging and Zhu was confident she’d found the right solution for her team. Brandfolder also allowed Aceable, which works closely with several external partners in both the real estate and driving spaces, to easily organize assets for external distribution. “ We also wanted a system that would allow us to send assets to people inside and outside of the company easily,” Zhu continues, noting that this feature was one of the best examples of Brandfolder’s long-term flexibility for the company.
For the past few weeks, Zhu has worked tirelessly to migrate more than 15,000 images over to Brandfolder, knowing that other departments will soon need to follow in her team’s footsteps. “We are still learning a lot about how a lot of the functions work in relation to each other, especially the search syntax and filters,” Zhu admits, but after months of work, she’s excited that the end is finally in sight. “I am super excited to get all of Aceable moved over to Brandfolder in the future so we can officially say we have an organized DAM system!”
